Swindon Town moved into second in the League Two table as relegation-threatened Newport County slumped to a fifth straight away defeat, beaten 2-0 by two goals in three second-half minutes.
Substitute Fletcher Holman broke the resistance of Christian Fuchs' side just after the hour, before a deflected cross moments later cannoned off Joe Thomas and into his own net to settle a game of few clear-cut chances.
Substitute Strikes the Decisive Blow
Swindon had looked sluggish and sloppy with little real threat before Holman, introduced at half-time, finished just after the hour mark. The former Wolves striker was found by Junior Hoilett on the right, cut into the box, held off two challengers and fired into the far corner for his second goal in as many games.
