Wolverhampton Wanderers have sold defender Ki-Jana Hoever to Sparta Prague, ending a six-year association with Molineux in which he never established himself as a first-team regular. The move is on a multi-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Wolves signed the 24-year-old Dutchman from Liverpool back in September 2020, but across six years at Molineux he could only manage 33 appearances in all competitions, with much of that time spent away from the club. His travels took in a Netherlands return with PSV Eindhoven, Stoke City twice over, and further stints out on loan at Auxerre and Sheffield United.
Hoever had appeared to be closing in on a route into the first team at the start of last season, impressing in pre-season to be given another chance at right wing-back after four years out on loan. The opportunity did not last, and he was loaned to Sheffield United for the second half of the campaign before this summer's permanent move to Sparta Prague.
"When you're not in a rhythm of playing regularly it's tough. You return from a loan and you're not fully part of it, so he's suffered," Wolves technical director Matt Jackson said of Hoever's departure.
