Myles Hippolyte's free-kick late in the first half was the only goal as AFC Wimbledon beat Doncaster Rovers 1-0 at home in League One, despite being comfortably outshot.
Wimbledon scored against the run of play. Hippolyte curled a free-kick into the top-left corner in the 42nd minute, and the home side then had to withstand sustained Doncaster pressure after the break to protect the lead.
Doncaster Waste Their Early Chances
Doncaster had the better of the opening exchanges. A cutback from Leon Ayinde found Jack Senior inside the box, but his shot from close range went wide of the left-hand post. Senior tested Josef Bursik again in the 15th minute, and the goalkeeper was quick to get down and keep the ball out of the bottom-right corner.
