Manchester City opened their Champions League league phase with a 2-0 win at Porto, Erling Haaland scoring twice in the second half to give Enzo Maresca a first win in the competition as City head coach. Haaland headed City in front in the 46th minute and added a second in the 90th.
The result came on a bad-tempered night at the Estádio do Dragão. A clash between Marc Guéhi and Gabri Veiga late in the first half led to a bust-up as the teams left the pitch at the interval, and Uefa is waiting on the match officials' reports before deciding whether to act.
Haaland's second goal took him to 36 Champions League goals for City, level with Sergio Agüero as the club's leading scorer in the competition. City had lost six of their previous nine away games in the Champions League before this one.
