Haaland and Bernardo Silva sink Villarreal as Manchester City end Champions League away drought

— Match Report

Manchester City ended their winless run on the road in the Champions League with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Villarreal, Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva striking in a first half that Pep Guardiola's side dominated from the opening whistle.

Haaland's opener took his scoring streak to a 12th consecutive game, with the Norwegian now on 24 goals in 14 appearances for club and country this season. City's previous Champions League win outside Manchester had come on 1 October 2024 against Slovan Bratislava.

City out of the blocks

City barely needed to settle. Luiz Junior was forced into a save after just 26 seconds when Jeremy Doku tested him with a low strike, and within two minutes Haaland had headed wide after combining with Savinho and Doku.
