Grimsby went to within a point of the League Two play-offs at the expense of fellow top-seven challengers Salford with a 3-1 victory at Blundell Park.
Three first-half goals settled the contest, with Kieran Green, Charles Vernam and Jude Soonsup-Bell all on target before the break, before Cole Stockton offered Salford brief hope after the interval.
Mariners Strike Three Before the Break
The Mariners took the lead in the 33rd minute as Green's near-post run was picked out by Vernam from a corner, allowing the former to head home his delivery.
