Grimsby Town survived a second-half fightback from 10-man MK Dons to triumph 3-2 at Stadium MK, having built a commanding 3-0 lead before the interval.
Goals from Kieran Green, Jaze Kabia and Charles Vernam put the visitors in firm control, and although George McEachran's own goal and a Connor Lemonheigh-Evans strike gave the hosts hope, the Mariners held out.
Visitors Race Into Command
Grimsby took the lead in the ninth minute when Green turned in Vernam's cross. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 23rd minute when, moments after being denied by Craig MacGillivray, Kabia converted the rebound after the goalkeeper had spilled Vernam's effort.
