Substitute Kieran Green scored an 86th-minute header to send Grimsby Town into the FA Cup fourth round and end non-league Weston-super-Mare's stirring six-game run in the competition. The League Two hosts had to come from behind twice in a 3-2 win that, in the words of Weston boss Scott Rogers, left his side "sick as pigs".
Charles Vernam's sensational dipping shot put the Mariners ahead before the break, only for Luke Coulson and Louis Britton to twice haul the National League South side level. Jaze Kabia had restored Grimsby's lead in between, before Green's looping header from a corner settled a tie that had looked destined for extra time.
Romance in Cleethorpes
This was the biggest match in Weston-super-Mare's 139-year history, their first-ever appearance in the FA Cup third round. The seaside club from Somerset travelled 500 miles round trip to Lincolnshire backed by 571 hardy, boisterous supporters who, in Artell's words, "never shut up all game".
