Green and Turi sink Bristol Rovers as Grimsby end their run of draws

Grimsby Town beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 at Blundell Park on League Two's sixth matchday, Kieran Green and Géza Turi scoring before the break and Tommy Leigh being sent off for the visitors in the 74th minute. The win ended a run of four successive draws for the Mariners and kept their unbeaten start to the season intact.

Green, the Grimsby captain, struck in the 21st minute and Turi added a second from distance in the 39th. Rovers, who had won four of their first five league games, never found a way back.

Green Punishes a Loose Pass

The first save of the game came from Charles Vernam, who cut in from Grimsby's left and curled a shot towards the far post from outside the box. The opener followed in the 21st minute, when Green nipped in as Riley Harbottle underweighted a headed pass back to goalkeeper Brad Young and finished the chance.
