Gilbert strikes late as Leyton Orient end home wait against Stevenage

· Match Report

Leyton Orient ended a long wait for a home league win on Saturday, beating Stevenage 1-0 in League One thanks to Alex Gilbert's 78th-minute goal.

It was the O's first home league victory of the season and their first since 21 March, a run of seven home league games without a win. Stevenage had more of the ball and more of the shots, but Orient took the only one of their efforts that hit the target.

A Game Heading for a Stalemate

The first half offered few chances. The best of them fell to Stevenage's Oliver Sanderson, who tested Nathan Baxter with a low shot after 25 minutes, only for the goalkeeper to push it away. Stevenage picked up two yellow cards in the space of two minutes before the break, at 30 and 31 minutes.
