Stevenage were denied top spot in the table after being pegged back in a 1-1 draw at Mansfield. Charlie Goode's 70th-minute opener looked to have set the visitors on course for a sixth league win of the season, only for the hosts to respond almost immediately.
Joe Gardner restored parity just three minutes later with a composed finish, leaving Stevenage to settle for a point and miss out on the summit.
Visitors Spurn Early Openings
Stevenage should have been in front inside the opening minutes when Lewis Freestone blazed over from 12 yards out. The early miss set a pattern of wastefulness in front of goal.
