Nottingham Forest produced a commanding 3-0 win at Fenerbahce in the first leg of their Europa League knockout play-off, handing new head coach Vitor Pereira a perfect debut and putting his side on the brink of the round of 16. Goals from Murillo, Igor Jesus and Morgan Gibbs-White stunned a packed Sukru Saracoglu and silenced one of Europe's most intimidating venues.
Appointed as Sean Dyche's successor just four days earlier and with only three training sessions to work with, Pereira saw his side dominate from the first whistle. By the end the yellow and navy stronghold had emptied, leaving the 1,200 travelling Forest supporters to chant "Can we play you every week?" and "Where's your famous atmosphere?"
Murillo lights the fuse
The breakthrough came from the most unlikely yet familiar source. Murillo, restored to the side after missing Forest's previous two matches, seized possession just inside the Fenerbahce half and set off with one thing in mind. The Brazilian centre-back brushed off N'Golo Kante and then Jayden Oosterwolde before powering to the edge of the box and curling a diagonal left-footed strike into the bottom corner of Ederson's goal via a deflection off Milan Skriniar's left boot.
