Fleetwood Town beat Shrewsbury Town 4-0 at Highbury Stadium in round three of the League Cup, eliminating the League Two visitors and sending Fleetwood into the next round.
Shrewsbury captain Will Boyle turned the ball into his own net in the seventh minute to open the scoring. Ched Evans doubled Fleetwood's lead in the 27th minute and made it three in the 34th, completing a first-half brace before he was substituted at half-time. His replacement, Will Davies, added a fourth in the 89th minute to complete the rout.
Four players were booked and none sent off. Shrewsbury's Arkell Jude-Boyd was cautioned in the 36th minute, Fleetwood's Shaun Rooney in the 47th, Shrewsbury's Joseph Gbodé in the 53rd and Shrewsbury's Kevin Berkoe in the 73rd.
Shrewsbury made two changes at half-time, and both sides continued to rotate their benches through the second half: Fleetwood made five substitutions in all, Shrewsbury four.
