Fleetwood Town 1-0 Chesterfield: Evans strike settles League Cup tie

Fleetwood Town beat Chesterfield 1-0 at Highbury Stadium in the English League Cup, Ched Evans's first-half goal enough to see off the visitors in front of 1,619 fans.

Evans scored in the 13th minute, converting a Finley Potter assist, the only goal of the match.

Chesterfield had much the better of general play without finding an equaliser: 15 attempts on goal to Fleetwood's five, five of them on target to Fleetwood's two, and 70.4% of possession. The visitors also hit the woodwork once.

Five players were booked, with no red cards. Fleetwood's Kane Thompson-Sommers was cautioned in the 60th minute, Lewis McCann in the 85th and Potter in the 89th; Chesterfield's Josh Koroma was booked for simulation in the 64th minute and Kyle McFadzean in the 88th.
