Fleetwood Town and Gillingham played out a goalless draw at Highbury Stadium as League Two's second round of fixtures continued. The point takes Fleetwood to 8th with four points from two games (W1 D1 L0); Gillingham stay down in 21st on a single point (W0 D1 L1).
Fleetwood had much the better of possession, 63% to 37%, and produced 17 attempts on goal to Gillingham's nine, but did not register a single shot on target and hit the woodwork once. Gillingham's three efforts on target were all saved by the Fleetwood goalkeeper, who made three stops in all, while the visitors twice struck the frame of the goal themselves.
Three yellow cards were shown, all before the hour mark: Fleetwood's Rhys Bennett in the 29th minute, then Gillingham's Kadeem Harris (40') and James Brophy (57'). No player was sent off.
Both sides used their bench heavily in the second half, Gillingham making four substitutions to Fleetwood's three, but neither could find a breakthrough, and the match finished scoreless.
