Fernandes howler hands Forest Europa League lifeline at the Dragao

— Match Report

A spectacular 45-yard own goal from Porto defender Martim Fernandes rescued Nottingham Forest a 1-1 draw in their Europa League quarter-final first leg at the Estadio do Dragao, keeping alive their hopes of a first European semi-final in more than 40 years.

William Gomes had given the hosts an 11th-minute lead but Fernandes' blind back pass beat goalkeeper Diogo Costa to cancel out the opener inside two minutes, swinging the momentum of the tie before the half-hour mark.

Porto's fast start rewarded by William

Porto, beaten 2-0 at the City Ground in the league phase back in October, started at pace and almost led inside 40 seconds when Seko Fofana squared for Terem Moffi, only for Stefan Ortega to save and then deny Borja Sainz's follow-up.
