Exeter slip into drop zone as Leyton Orient run ended in stalemate

· Match Report

Struggling Exeter City dropped into the League One relegation zone despite ending Leyton Orient's four-game winning run, the sides playing out a goalless draw in a match of few clear-cut chances at St James Park.

The point was Exeter's first after a five-game losing run, but it extended their winless run to 14 matches and was not enough to keep them out of the relegation places after Blackpool's late win over Burton Albion. For Orient, the draw edged them a step closer to safety.

Bycroft thrown in and tested early

Jack Bycroft made his first league start for City after Joe Whitworth failed a late fitness test, and the reserve goalkeeper was tested early when Theo Archibald forced a good save, Bycroft getting down well to push the shot away from goal.
