Anthony Scully scored the only goal on his Exeter City debut as the Grecians beat Rotherham United 1-0 at St James Park in League Two. The winger, announced as a new signing only that morning, scored in the 50th minute of a contest Exeter controlled.
Exeter had 16 attempts to Rotherham's seven, seven of them on target, and won eight corners to two. It was only their second league win of the season, after victory over Accrington Stanley on 22 August, and it followed a defeat at Bristol Rovers the previous week.
There was a family connection for the debutant too: his father Tony spent 13 matches on loan at the club in 2005, a productive spell.
