Substitute Lyndon Dykes struck eight minutes into stoppage time as Birmingham City came from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 in a dramatic Championship encounter at Ewood Park. His close-range finish earned the promoted side their first league win of the season and continued their unbeaten start to the campaign.
On the day Blackburn celebrated the club's 150th anniversary, captain Todd Cantwell's superb volley early in the second half looked set to deliver a cathartic victory after a turbulent week. Instead, Jay Stansfield equalised from the penalty spot in the final minute of normal time and Dykes then completed a stunning turnaround in front of more than 7,000 travelling supporters.
Cantwell's crisp volley breaks deadlock after cagey first half
Clear chances were scarce in an even first half, with both sides struggling to find rhythm in the final third. Birmingham fashioned the only notable opportunity before the break when Alex Cochrane stepped forward and drove a low, stinging shot from outside the area that Balazs Toth pushed smartly behind.
