The Paraguayan midfielder, who had managed only two Brighton goals before kick-off, stole the show at Oakwell with a clinical opener, two stunning long-range strikes and a composed second-half finish. Substitutes Harry Howell and Yasin Ayari added late gloss to a thumping win.
Before kick-off, a minute's applause was held in memory of iconic Barnsley-born cricket umpire Dickie Bird, who has died aged 92.
