Everton enhanced their hopes of European qualification with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage, turning the game on its head in the final stages. Trailing to a first-half own goal from Vitalii Mykolenko, David Moyes' side struck twice in the last quarter of an hour, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at the heart of both goals, to claim all three points in west London.
Fulham had looked in complete control after a slick move forced Mykolenko to divert the ball into his own net, and Marco Silva's team went on to dominate the remainder of the first half, rattling the woodwork twice. But Mykolenko made amends by setting up Dewsbury-Hall's 76th-minute equaliser before the midfielder's corner led to a Bernd Leno own goal seven minutes from time, a turnaround that lifts Everton to seventh in the Premier League, two points behind Liverpool, while Fulham slide to 10th.
Everton Start Brightly Before Fulham Seize Control
Despite the late drama, it was Everton who threatened first. The visitors started brightly, and they were inches away from an early lead when Jake O'Brien met James Garner's corner and directed a header against the post inside the opening eight minutes. With suspended manager David Moyes watching on from the stands, that early set-piece almost provided the perfect platform for his side.
