Coventry City have signed the Jamaica international centre-back Ethan Pinnock from Brentford, ending his seven-year spell at the west London club. The fee is undisclosed, but understood to be around £6m, and Pinnock was entering his final contracted year at Brentford.
The 33-year-old joined Brentford from Barnsley in 2019 for what was then a club-record £3m fee, having come through non-league football. He went on to make 216 appearances for Brentford, scoring 12 goals, and played a leading role in the club's rise to the Premier League. He has since fallen down the pecking order, however, making only eight appearances across all competitions last season.
Pinnock becomes Coventry's tenth signing of a summer in which they have spent more than £100m rebuilding for their return to the Premier League after 25 years away, and their second defensive signing since Aurele Amenda arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt in July. He follows his former Brentford team-mate Frank Onyeka, who also moved to Coventry this summer.
"I'm really excited to join Coventry City and continue my footballing journey with this great club," Pinnock said. "After 25 years, the club are back in the Premier League, and I know how much it must mean to everyone involved. I can't wait to be part of it."
