Championship leaders Coventry City were forced to settle for a goalless draw against 10-man Oxford United at the CBS Arena, as Frank Lampard's side again failed to turn dominance into victory. The Sky Blues, who have now won just four of their last 13 league games, could surrender top spot on Monday if second-placed Middlesbrough beat Sheffield United.
Oxford, battling at the opposite end of the table, lost substitute Will Lankshear to a second yellow card in the 77th minute but survived heavy late pressure to earn a valuable point that leaves Matt Bloomfield's team four points from safety. The visitors owed much to goalkeeper Jamie Cumming and a defiant back line, while Coventry were left to rue a string of missed chances and an inability to make the extra man count.
Lampard's Reshuffle Seeks Spark After Recent Setbacks
Coming into the game on the back of two defeats in which they had surrendered 1-0 leads, Lampard made five changes in an attempt to jolt his side back into form. Centre-backs Bobby Thomas and Liam Kitching were left out, with Joel Latibeaudiere and Luke Woolfenden forming a new partnership, while Haji Wright, Romain Esse and Victor Torp were all recalled to the starting line-up.
