Wigan Athletic and Barnsley played out a 1-1 draw in a contest of sharply contrasting halves, with Dara Costelloe's early strike cancelled out by Adam Phillips after the break before Barnsley were reduced to ten men in the closing stages.
The Latics started fast and led inside six minutes, but a wave of missed chances proved costly as Barnsley recovered to level on 69 minutes and then survived a late red card to hold on for a point.
