Cardiff City lost ground on League One leaders Lincoln City as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Barnsley, with Rubin Colwill's early goal cancelled out by Scott Banks's strike.
There were no signs of a hangover at Oakwell as Brian Barry-Murphy's side raced into an early lead, but Barnsley's response with their first shot on target left the visitors four points adrift of Lincoln.
Colwill Strikes on Return
Cardiff led on 11 minutes when a beautiful switch of play found Ollie Tanner on the right, and his cutback was calmly guided into the bottom corner by Colwill for his first goal since returning from injury, the 23-year-old finishing well past Owen Goodman after a mistake had allowed Tanner to cross.
