Queens Park Rangers earned back-to-back Championship wins for the first time this season with a 3-1 victory over Wrexham at the Stok Cae Ras, exposing familiar defensive problems for the hosts. An unfortunate Conor Coady own goal and a thunderous strike from summer signing Richard Kone put the visitors firmly in control by half-time.
Phil Parkinson's side mounted a much-improved display after the interval and were rewarded when in-form Wales striker Kieffer Moore headed in on 67 minutes to halve the deficit. But Rumarn Burrell's late breakaway finish restored QPR's two-goal cushion and ended Wrexham's three-game unbeaten run in all competitions, while the Welsh club's Hollywood co-owner Ryan Reynolds, watching in the stands again, still awaits a first home Championship win.
Bright Wrexham start before Rangers seize control
Both sides arrived buoyed by their first league victories of the campaign before the international break Wrexham having triumphed 2-0 at Millwall and QPR having beaten Charlton 3-1. In the north Wales sunshine it was the hosts who settled more quickly. Captain James McClean and winger Ryan Longman each found space to shoot from the edge of the area, forcing Paul Nardi making his first Championship start of the season into routine saves as Wrexham carried the greater early threat without truly stretching the goalkeeper.
