Southampton enjoyed long spells of possession and began both halves on the front foot, but they rarely forced Ivor Pandur into serious work and were repeatedly undone by crosses and set-pieces. Joseph's scruffy opener, Lundstram's clinical finish just before the hour and McBurnie's towering header from a Ryan Giles free-kick left Will Still's side with far too much to do, and although substitute Adam Armstrong volleyed in deep into stoppage time, it was little more than consolation for a team that once again looked fragile in both boxes.
