Brighton clinically demolished Championship side Oxford United 6-0 at the Kassam Stadium to reach the third round of the Carabao Cup, with debutants Olivier Boscagli, Stefanos Tzimas and Tommy Watson all getting on the scoresheet.
Fabian Hurzeler made 11 changes from the side beaten 2-0 by Everton in the Premier League, while Gary Rowett's Oxford made eight alterations. The hosts created plenty but were repeatedly ripped open at the other end, with Jason Steele making 10 saves to preserve a clean sheet.
Early Warning Ignored
Przemyslaw Placheta almost gave Oxford the lead inside 25 seconds when a mistake from Igor Julio let him in, only for the winger to fire straight at Steele. The miss proved costly as Brighton took control of the contest inside 20 minutes.
