Norwich City finally ended their 13-game winless run and claimed a first home victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers at Carrow Road, handing new head coach Philippe Clement his first success in charge. Emiliano Marcondes' early opener was quickly cancelled out by Rumarn Burrell, but an Amadou Mbengue own goal and a superb Amankwah Forson strike, all before the break, gave the Canaries a cushion they never looked likely to surrender.
It was Norwich's first win in 14 matches and their first since 30 August, cutting the gap to safety to four points even though they stay second-from-bottom of the Championship. QPR, who arrived in Norfolk unbeaten in three and on the back of a week that had already yielded six points, were well below their recent standards in a first half dominated by Norwich and, despite improving after the interval, could not find a way back once they fell two goals behind.
Fast Start Sets Lively Tone
With Clement overseeing his third game since replacing the sacked Liam Manning, Norwich started with an urgency that belied their league position. Forson and Josh Sargent both had half chances in the opening exchanges and Kenny McLean's inswinging corners immediately unsettled the visitors' defence, hinting at the damage to come from set pieces.
