Como have signed the defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea, in a deal worth more than £30m. Chalobah, 27, has signed a five-year contract with Cesc Fabregas' side, who secured Champions League qualification by finishing fourth in Serie A last season.
Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7m, with a further £5.1m available in add-ons.
The centre-back leaves his boyhood club after nearly 20 years, having joined Chelsea's academy at the age of eight. He made 151 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals, including three in the Premier League last season, and won five trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge, among them the FA Cup in 2018 and the Conference League in 2025. He also had loan spells with Ipswich, Huddersfield, Lorient and Crystal Palace.
"Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club," said Fabregas, briefly a team-mate of Chalobah's during his own playing days at Stamford Bridge. "He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como."
