Calum Chambers' sumptuous long-range strike was enough for Cardiff City to see off a stubborn Wigan Athletic 1-0 and record an eighth successive home league win for the League One leaders.
The former Arsenal centre-back put the dominant hosts in front midway through the first half, with Brian Barry-Murphy's side enjoying more than 80% possession against opponents who defended so resolutely they barely ventured beyond the halfway line.
A Captain's Moment of Quality
After Omari Kellyman had two attempts on goal saved by Wigan goalkeeper Sam Tickle, the breakthrough arrived in the 24th minute. Chambers, the Cardiff skipper, arced a right-footed shot from 25 yards into the top corner for his second goal of the season.
