Castellanos heads West Ham past stubborn QPR in extra-time FA Cup tie

— Match Report

Valentin "Taty" Castellanos scored his first West Ham goal to settle a difficult FA Cup third-round tie 2-1 after extra time against Championship side Queens Park Rangers, ending the Hammers' 10-game winless run and their wait for a victory since beating Burnley on 8 November.

The Argentine, signed from Lazio in a £25.2m deal last week, rose to head in Crysencio Summerville's cross in the first period of extra time, sparing Nuno Espirito Santo further embarrassment after Richard Kone had cancelled out Summerville's stoppage-time opener at the end of the first half.

A subdued start at the London Stadium

West Ham, who made six changes and left Lucas Paqueta out while keeping Jarrod Bowen, were slow into the game and did not register a shot for 32 minutes. When they did, Summerville cut inside to force a smart save from QPR goalkeeper Joe Walsh.
