League One leaders Cardiff City began the new year with a frustrating 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers, failing to extend their lead at the top of the table. It was only the third time this season that the Bluebirds had been held to a draw.
Brian Barry-Murphy's side were the better team for much of the contest, but Michael Duff's Wycombe held firm to claim a valuable home point against the division's pacesetters.
Willock's Early Strike Sets the Tone
Cardiff made the perfect start in the sixth minute when Chris Willock struck. The former Arsenal man took a touch to steady himself around 10 yards from goal before unleashing a bending effort that took a slight deflection off Dan Casey, wrong-footing Will Norris to make it 1-0.
