Cardiff City climbed back to the top of League One as a hard-fought 3-1 victory at Northampton Town saw the Bluebirds return to winning ways after back-to-back league defeats. Joel Colwill, Ethan Wheatley with an own goal, and Chris Willock were the men on the scoresheet at Sixfields.
Wheatley endured a remarkable evening for Northampton, levelling early in the second half before slicing into his own net just three minutes later. Cardiff's success lifts Brian Barry-Murphy's side from fifth to the summit of the table.
Colwill Sets the Tone
The visitors struck after only seven minutes when Ronan Kpakio found Joel Colwill in the box and the midfielder finished smartly into the far corner for his first Cardiff league goal, his shot precise enough to beat Ross Fitzsimons despite the Northampton goalkeeper getting a hand to the ball.
