Cardiff City took a significant stride towards securing an instant return to the Championship with a much-needed 2-0 home win over League One promotion rivals Bolton Wanderers.
The Bluebirds had not scored at home since February 17, when Omari Kellyman netted the final goal in a 4-1 win over Wimbledon. A near five-and-a-half hour wait for a home goal finally ended five minutes after the interval, and it was the same player who broke the deadlock.
Dominance Without Reward
Cardiff completely dominated the first half, firing in 13 shots, hitting the crossbar and forcing visiting goalkeeper Jack Bonham into two fine saves. Kellyman and Alex Robertson both drew stops in a frantic opening, and Robertson somehow hit the bar from point-blank range when it looked easier to score.
