Cardiff 1-1 Stoke: Colwill's header ends a losing run but not the wait for a first win

· Match Report

Cardiff City are still waiting for their first win back in the Championship after a 1-1 draw with Stoke City on Tuesday night. Joel Colwill's header in the 62nd minute cancelled out Ben Johnson's opener, on the 21-year-old's first league start at this level.

It was Cardiff's fourth draw in six league games, alongside two defeats, and it ended a run of two straight wins for Stoke, who took their first away point of the season. The hosts had 71% of the ball and 26 shots to Stoke's 12, seven of them on target to four, and hit the woodwork three times.

Johnson Punishes a Shaky Start

Cardiff arrived off defeats at QPR and Portsmouth and began nervously, with the home crowd anxious. Ollie Tanner wasted two chances inside a minute, one off the base of a post and the other when he failed to find an empty net from a tight angle after Viktor Johansson's clearing kick went straight to him.
