Sheffield United hauled themselves out of the Championship's bottom three with a 3-1 comeback victory at Blackburn Rovers, overturning a half-time deficit to deepen the hosts' early-season home woes. Yuki Ohashi's close-range finish just before the break appeared to have given Rovers a platform for their first league win at Ewood Park this season, but an Axel Henriksson own goal and clinical late strikes from Harrison Burrows and substitute Tyrese Campbell transformed the contest. The result gave Chris Wilder's side a second successive win, following their weekend success against Watford, while Valerien Ismael's team slipped to 23rd and were again left to rue missed chances.
In a game that for long spells reflected the lowly positions of both sides, clear chances were scarce before half-time and quality in the final third was lacking. Yet both teams still carved out openings, and when Blackburn finally converted a sweeping counter-attack to lead on 40 minutes, it set up a tense second half. United, however, responded with conviction, using a set-piece to force the equaliser before carving Rovers open twice more in the final 20 minutes to claim a victory that felt as much about belief as it did about points.
Cagey opening as Ohashi makes amends
With both teams starting the night in the relegation zone and having managed only three league goals between their starting XIs, the nervous, low-tempo opening came as no surprise. Blackburn still fashioned the best early opportunity when Henriksson drilled a low cross into the near post, only for Ohashi to fail to make proper contact in front of goal in the 25th minute, a let-off that would later loom large in Valerien Ismael's post-match reflections on his side's wastefulness.
