Bristol Rovers moved top of League Two with a 2-0 win over Colchester United. Tom James put Rovers ahead in the 26th minute, before substitute Ellis Harrison settled it in second-half stoppage time, finishing a move that Tommy Leigh supplied the assist for, both in the 92nd minute.
Rovers made three substitutions: Ciarán Kelly replaced Kofi Balmer in the 42nd minute, Harrison came on for Fabrizio Cavegn in the 65th minute before scoring his stoppage-time goal, and Jack Aitchison replaced Bobby Kamwa in the 75th. Colchester made five changes across the second half: Moses Sesay and Kane Vincent-Young came on at half-time for Paul Digby and Frankie Terry, followed by Kylian Kouassi (60th minute), Bradley Ihionvien (69th) and Leon Chiwome (84th).
Four yellow cards were shown and no player was sent off. James was booked for dissent in the 21st minute, Colchester's Jack Tucker for an argument in the 34th, and Rovers pair Tommy Leigh (45th) and Richard Smallwood (78th) picked up cautions either side of half-time.
The result put Rovers top of the table on nine points from four matches (three wins and one defeat), while Colchester dropped to eighth on seven points, their first league defeat of the 2026/27 season.
