Emil Riis' late header crowned a stirring Bristol City fightback as the Robins recovered from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Leicester City in a breathless Championship contest at Ashton Gate. Jordan Ayew's first-half penalty and Bobby De Cordova-Reid's composed finish against his former club had put the Foxes in complete control at the interval, only for Mark Sykes to strike almost immediately after the restart and Riis to level seven minutes from time.
It was a match of stark contrasts, with Leicester slick and clinical before the break and Bristol City transformed after it, roaring forward amid a raucous atmosphere. Both goalkeepers were required to make important saves during a frenetic second half, but the draw ultimately keeps the Robins two points and three places above 13th-placed Leicester after 20 league games.
Foxes punish hesitant hosts in a controlled first half
Both sides invited trouble with nervous early moments, but it was Leicester who settled first. A sliced clearance from the visitors dropped invitingly for Riis inside the box, only for Jakub Stolarczyk to spread himself and block the striker's close-range effort. At the other end, Radek Vitek misjudged a deep cross from Stephy Mavididi and, when the ball was returned to the former Juventus forward at the back post, his looping header clipped the top of the crossbar.
