Freddie Draper's 52nd-minute goal gave Lincoln City a 1-0 win at Bristol City, handing Michael Skubala defeat against the club he left in May. Draper finished into an empty net after Rob Dickie's misjudged pass back to goalkeeper Sam Tickle was intercepted by Ben House, who tapped the ball on to him.
Skubala led Lincoln to the League One title and promotion before his departure, and nine of the visitors' starters had played under him last season. The two clubs had not met in the league since April 1986.
Bristol City had 68% of the ball and 18 shots to Lincoln's 9, but the result left Lincoln unbeaten in five league games, three wins and two draws since a home defeat by Portsmouth. Bristol City have lost three of their seven league matches this season.
