Arsenal's perfect start to the season ended at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, where Brighton won 3-0 through goals from Pascal Gross, Charalampos Kostoulas and Chema Andrés. The champions had arrived chasing an eighth successive victory to begin a campaign, and were second-best from the first minute.
It was the first time Arsenal had lost by three goals in the Premier League since Brighton beat them 3-0 in May 2023. Mikel Arteta did not argue with the outcome. "They deserved to win the game and it's a big lesson for us," he said afterwards.
Brighton, who played in a special deep blue shirt to mark the club's 125th anniversary, finished the day with 16 goals from five league games.
