Danny Rohl's first game as Rangers head coach ended in a 3-0 defeat to a clinical Brann side in Bergen, leaving the Scottish Premiership strugglers bottom of the Europa League table without a point from their opening three matches.
Emil Kornvig struck either side of half-time alongside Jacob Sorensen, before the impressive Noah Holm rifled in a late third to pile more misery on the beleaguered visitors. Rohl, appointed only three days earlier as Russell Martin's successor, watched many of the same defensive frailties resurface.
Early promise gives way to old habits
Rangers started with intensity and set up in a rigid 4-4-2 off the ball, briefly suggesting a fresh approach. The much-maligned Youssef Chermiti failed to connect properly with a clipped Joe Rothwell pass, and the visitors quickly reverted to type as Freyr Alexandersson's hosts grew into the game.
