Bradford City see off Rochdale in League Cup second round

Bradford City beat Rochdale 2-0 at Mbanq Valley Parade in this English League Cup second-round tie. Will Swan put the home side ahead in the 45th minute, and Aden Baldwin doubled Bradford's lead in the 66th minute to settle the contest in front of an attendance of 6,915.

Bradford dominated the underlying numbers, edging possession 51.5% to 48.5% and finishing with 23 attempts on goal to Rochdale's nine, 11 of them on target against two; Bradford also won the corner count 10-2. Rochdale's Devante Rodney was booked in the 21st minute and team-mate Dajaune Brown followed in the 76th, both yellow cards for fouls, with no cautions for Bradford.

Bradford made wholesale late changes: a triple substitution in the 71st minute brought on Adam Phillips, Nick Powell and Bobby Pointon, the last replacing first-goal scorer Will Swan, with further changes in the 79th and 89th minutes, the last of which saw second scorer Aden Baldwin make way for Reece Welch. Rochdale used four substitutes in reply, three of them inside two minutes just after the hour mark as Ed Francis, Dajaune Brown and Kaiden Wilson were all introduced by the 62nd minute, with a fourth, Dan Moss, arriving in the 77th.
