Jarrod Bowen scored twice as West Ham United beat Bolton Wanderers 3-2 at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, a result that leaves them first in the table on goal difference. It was their third successive league victory and left Bolton with a fourth straight defeat.
The match swung on a goalkeeping error. Debutant Gavin Bazunu, in for Jack Bonham after seven changes from the 4-0 defeat at Millwall, had played well until Bowen's shot in the 76th minute slipped under his hand.
A first half with everything
Bowen put West Ham ahead in the 12th minute, finishing after a scramble in front of Bazunu's goal. Bolton answered within five minutes: Ethan Erhahon, scoring his first goal for the club, struck a left-footed shot that took a deflection off Konstantinos Mavropanos on its way in.
