Beşiktaş beat Marseille 4-1 at Tüpras Stadyumu on the opening matchday of the Europa League, scoring three times in the second half after the sides went in level. Ilhan Fakili put the hosts ahead in the 14th minute, Keyliane Abdallah equalised for Marseille in the 28th, and Beşiktaş then pulled clear through Václav Cerny in the 55th, Amir Murillo in the 58th and Ernest Poku in the 80th.
Orkun Kökçü provided the assists for both Cerny's and Murillo's goals, and Junior Olaïtan set up Fakili's opener and Poku's late fourth. Poku had come on in the 69th minute in place of Cerny. Himad Abdelli assisted Abdallah's goal for Marseille.
Beşiktaş had 18 attempts to Marseille's 14 and put seven on target to their three, with 55% of the possession to Marseille's 45%. Marseille made three saves, Beşiktaş two.
Three players were booked and there were no red cards: Emmanuel Agbadou for a foul in the ninth minute, Amine Harit of Marseille for dissent in the 71st, and Fabio Miretti for a foul in the 94th. Both sides made five substitutions.
