Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Signal Iduna Park to win the German Supercup, a week before the Bundesliga season begins.
Nathaniel Brown, who joined Bayern from Eintracht Frankfurt over the summer, broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, sweeping in a cross from Michael Olise for his first competitive goal for the club. Olise doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time, getting into the right of the box and steering the ball into the far corner.
Dortmund improved after the break, with new signings Giannis Konstantelias and Konstantinos Karetsas both going close, and pulled a goal back in the 75th minute when Fabio Silva swept in a cross from Daniel Svensson. Ramy Bensebaini was then shown a straight red card for a late challenge on Bayern substitute Ismael Saibari, and Dortmund, down to 10 men, could not find an equaliser as Maximilian Beier fired over from close range in stoppage time.
Bayern were without Jamal Musiala, who has been recovering after a change to his medication for a neurological condition triggered two collapses during preseason friendlies.
