Barnsley beat Crewe Alexandra 3-2 at Oakwell in round three of the League Cup.
Adrien Thibaut put League Two visitors Crewe ahead in the 20th minute. Barnsley responded twice inside ten minutes, Reyes Cleary levelling in the 28th minute and Tyrese Noslin putting the hosts 2-1 up two minutes later. Corey O'Keeffe made it 3-1 in the 37th minute.
Noslin was substituted in the 84th minute and O'Keeffe in the 79th, both withdrawn with the game seemingly settled. Crewe's Joel Ewusi, on as an 85th-minute substitute, scored three minutes later to make it 3-2, but there was no further goal.
Barnsley had 66% of possession and 30 shots to Crewe's 16, though Crewe were the more clinical side, putting nine of their 16 attempts on target to Barnsley's eight. Barnsley won 20 corners to Crewe's seven.
