Barnes brace inspires Burnley to emphatic FA Cup rout of Millwall

— Match Report

Premier League strugglers Burnley put their league troubles to one side as three first-half goals propelled them to a 5-1 FA Cup third-round victory over Championship promotion chasers Millwall and a place in the fourth round.

Ashley Barnes, making his first start of the season at the age of 36, scored twice either side of strikes from Loum Tchaouna and Jaidon Anthony, before substitute Jaydon Banel added a late fifth. Josh Coburn's stoppage-time lofted finish over home goalkeeper Max Weiss provided Millwall with a consolation.

Barnes opens the floodgates

The Clarets, without a win in 12 league games, needed only 11 minutes to take the lead. Jaidon Anthony slipped a pass to Jacob Bruun Larsen, whose square ball was calmly converted by Barnes from six yards out past visiting goalkeeper Steven Benda.
