Christian Fuchs earned the first win of his Newport tenure as his side beat Crewe Alexandra 2-0 at Rodney Parade. Goals from Courtney Baker-Richardson and Sammy Braybrooke gave County their first league win in two months and moved them off the bottom of League Two.
It was a first victory for Fuchs at the eighth attempt and ended a long wait at Rodney Parade, where the Welsh side had not picked up three points since March 15 last season. The 3,925 in attendance finally had something to cheer for the first time in months.
Crewe Dominate but Cannot Convert
The hosts came under early pressure from their northern visitors, with James Connolly and Max Sanders coming close for Crewe within the first half hour. The visitors dominated possession and created all the chances in the early stages.
