Femi Azeez’s rich vein of form continued at The Den as his first-half strike earned Millwall a fully deserved 1-0 victory over Leicester City and a fourth consecutive Championship win. The winger’s composed finish just before the break ultimately separated the sides, on a night when the hosts combined aggression, organisation and flashes of quality to stay third in the table and move to within two points of second-placed Middlesbrough.
Leicester, relegated from the Premier League last season, arrived in south London desperate for a response but left with a second defeat in the week and only one win in their last eight league games. They began brightly and had late chances through substitutes Julian Carranza and Patson Daka, yet the clearest opening of the second half was Millwall’s missed penalty, with Mihailo Ivanovic denied by an excellent save from Jakub Stolarczyk before Max Crocombe preserved the points in stoppage time.
Foxes Start Fast Before Lions Seize the Initiative
Despite Millwall’s superior recent form, it was Leicester who imposed themselves first. Marti Cifuentes’ side played with purpose in the opening 15 to 20 minutes, and their early control was almost rewarded when Aaron Ramsey let fly from range. His effort, struck firmly but straight, forced Max Crocombe into a solid save and hinted at the kind of response Leicester were seeking after their midweek setback.
